Swearing and Autism, A Mother’s Perspective

Jake is five years old. He is doing Occupational Therapy for his sensory issues. For some unknown reason, Jake starts swearing quite a bit. My husband asked me if Jake could have picked it up at daycare. I tactfully try to tell him that Jake is probably picking it up from him. My husband was in the Marine Corps and didn’t notice how often he swears. He also gets very excited during football games. There is a lot of yelling, cheering, and swearing on game days.
